Once Bitten

Buffy gave in, allowing herself to be led into a dark corner of the Bronze, the loud music reverberating in her body and her heart beating hard in time with it.

She let him back her into a corner, his body so close to hers that she felt she couldn't breathe, his proximity was overwhelming and her skin hummed with fear.

Closing her eyes, she felt a hand grasp her waist as his other one brushed the hair from her neck, exposing her creamy throat for his inspection.

The next thing she felt were cold sharp incisors slicing into her soft supple skin. It was like a needle at first, a tiny flicker of pain and then the world span around her and it felt divine like she was flying, all she could do was surrender to him.

He'd won and she'd lost, she'd promised him anything he wanted if he could beat her but not for a second had she thought it would be this--to claim her neck as his own.

What had started out as a few games of pool had rapidly turned into a heated competition and now she realised that he'd let her win all those times, let her claim all those trinkets from him because he knew eventually she would raise the stakes and believe she was infallible.

It was at that point she'd told him if he won the next game he could have anything.

He growled deep in his throat and Buffy felt the command echo through her along with the music, she knew he was telling her to keep still and she hadn't even realised she'd begun to move against him.

Buffy stilled her hips and let him drink from her, his fingernails digging into her waist as he held her tight against him, bruising her flesh as he made her his.

She couldn't help feeling overwhelmed, his possessiveness and desire for her to belong to him, his need for her to love him and feel something towards him other than hatred had driven him to this. She'd driven him to this. He'd offered her the chance to say no to his request but when she'd seen in his eyes what this meant to him she couldn't bring herself to push him away, instead she'd found herself drawing him to her, encouraging him with a gentle stroke of his cheek.

Her hands weaved their way up his body, coming to rest on the back of his neck as he tugged her closer to him. She wanted to feel him surrounding her, wanted to feel him inside her body, inside her blood and she pulled his head down against her neck and listened to him growl again, this time it was gentler, more of a purring over her actions.

She leant her head back and to the side, granting him easier access to her neck as he pulled her blood from her, his fingers seeking her bare flesh as they roamed under her shirt.

The room disappeared from around her and all Buffy could feel was Spike, at her neck, in her body, deep inside her head. It was like there was only him, the bronze had dropped from existence and she was soaring above the earth on broken wings.

As he bit down harder on her neck, Buffy sighed out a moan while the pain danced along her nerves. She told herself that she'd stop him when it got dangerous; she'd stop him when he went too far. Her body hummed with adrenaline as he pushed her into the wall, pinning her with his body. Her fingers left his neck and explored the muscles of his shoulders before trailing down his strong arms, taking in each contour that they glided over.

Spike felt like his heart was beating again, she'd pressed her body so close to him that he could feel her ragged breathing and her heartbeat resounded through him. He'd never tasted anything as sweet as what she was giving to him, never thought for a second it could be like this, his head span and his body melted against hers as his mouth lingered on her neck a few moments longer.

She felt him pulling away, licking her neck softly and then placing a chaste kiss onto the wound. Buffy held onto him still, afraid that if she let go she'd fall back to earth and the dreariness of existence. She listened to him breathing heavily as his cheek brushed against hers, his breath, warmed temporarily by her blood in his veins, tickled her neck and caused her skin to dance and tingle. She felt his emotions in the air around her, could sense them in his movements and hear them in his breathing. It was like he was speaking into her, placing silent words into her soul.

Running her hands back up his arms, she placed them either side of his head and shifted him so he was facing her. She searched his eyes as they met hers, when they burnt her with their love she felt forced to avert her gaze, letting her heavy eyelids shut out the sight of his overwhelming affection for her and fearing that he'd seen her innermost feelings.

Buffy was frozen to the spot, she couldn't look at him because she knew he'd read her eyes clearly if she did so, he'd see the desires he'd stirred in her, and at the same time she couldn't leave without doing something to break the connection she felt with him. She just couldn't leave him no matter how hard she tried to move.

Chewing her lip, she felt him run his fingers lightly over the puncture wound on her neck and heard him heave a long sigh. The sounds of the Bronze came flooding back in to her head as he removed his fingers from her skin and when he cupped her cheek, she found the strength to look up at him again.

She met his eyes and this time he looked pensive, she could read his unease as he watched her every movement and it was obvious that he was unsure of how she was going to react to what had happened. Buffy felt her emotions hitch in her chest and they both surprised and scared her with their strength. The corners of her mouth twitched into a small smile as she looked into his eyes, they softened as he watched her lips.

Some part of her was still floating--it hadn't come crashing back down to earth with the rest of her. She realised it was because of him; in the process of claiming her blood he'd awoken her feelings, bought emotions to the surface that she hadn't felt in so long, that she thought she'd never feel again.

Reaching up to him, she lured his lips to hers and kissed him, tasting the remnants of her blood in his mouth. As he grasped her waist possessively, Buffy bit his lower lip and moaned when he growled softly at her. He drew her flush against his body, bending her over backwards with the force of his kisses and Buffy let her eyes slip shut as the sounds of the Bronze faded away again and she was flying once more.
